During the last part of our Iceland trip we stayed for a few days on the Snæfellsnes peninsula, also referred to as “Iceland in a Nutshell”. It was really beautiful there, with amazing (non-Icelandic!) sunny weather. We stayed in Grundarfjórdúr, near the famous mountain Kirkjufell (in this photo). And of course, Snæfellsnes is a great place for riding Icelandic horses on the beach…

Fourth set of our Iceland photos. After returning from Skaftafell and Jökulsárlón, we came back in western direction again passing landmarks like Reynisdrangar and waterfall Skogafoss (the most beautiful waterfall we had seen so far). The next day, leaving Sanne and Hannah behind, I went deeper into Iceland inlands with a spectaculair 4×4 jeep tour to Landmannalaugar.

Third set of Iceland photos; Jökulsárlón was the most eastward point during our trip. We visited the incredible lake of Icebergs of Jökulsárlón with it’s beach where the floating icebergs end up and even made a boat trip between the icebergs. Interesting note: a scene from James Bond’s “Die Another Day” was shot here a few years ago (see here on YouTube) and to do this, they actually closed the connection from the lake to the sea during winter time so that the surface completely froze due to the lack of warmer and more salt sea water flowing in.

Second set of our photos of Iceland; after travelling from Reykjavik to Vik, the next destination was Skaftafell National Park. Here, the incredibly large Vatnajökull glacier meets the wide planes that lead to the coast. Also, inside the national park, the famous waterfall Svartifoss can be found (also called the “Pipe Organ”). Oh, right: on the way we also did spot some cute puffins on the cliffs of Dyrhólaey‎!

The beautiful waterfall “Seljalandsfoss”. This is the first set of 18 photos of our trip to Iceland last week, all shot on the first two days when travelling from Reykjavik to Vik on the South Coast of Iceland. We’ve been to this waterfall three years ago, but I was very happy with the good light during this second visit, with the bit of sunshine causing the rainbow and the bird in this shot adding an extra motif. It was very tricky though; thin droplets of the waterfall appearing on the lens after every few seconds.

Enjoyed a weekend with Sanne and Hannah in Berlin, for the very good reason of celebrating Joep’s 30th birthday. This shot is of the typical U-bahn window art.

It’s wonderful to just sit and watch Hannah play… although after some time not being to crawl (yet) to here toys does often make her cry
